Synopsis: Ramesh Sippy, the incredibly talented director who gave us 'Sholay' and 'Shaan'. Shahrukh Khan, the sure-footed and gifted actor who so effortlessly filled the superstar slot after Amitabh Bachchan and became the heartthrob of millions. Raveena Tandon, the daintily ravishing Indian beauty that stole all our hearts and for whose captivating smile & alluring looks, even a thousand words are too few. Anupam Kher, the most versatile supporting actor in the Indian cinema. 'Zamana Deewana' is and unqualified stroke of genious and the most entertaining movies in the recent times. Suraj(Shatrughan Sinha) and Lala(Jeetendra) were good friends before falling prey to the vicious tricks of Sundar(Tinnu Anand), so much so that Lala believes his wife is dead and Suraj is to blame for that. They become greatest enemies and create chaos in the city by way of gang wars. Asst. Comissioner of Police(Prem Chopra in a cameo appearance) has a criminal psychologist KD(Kher) and Shalini(Kiran Joneja) weave a plot to bring Rahul(Shahrukh Khan), the lively and spirited son of Suraj, close to Priya(Raveena Tandon), the ever-so graceful and elegant daughter of Lala, hoping to bring the two sides together. Needless to say that good triumphs over evil, but only after a number of out-and-out entertaining songs and dances, jestful capers, taut-action sequences, endearing romance, tongue-in-cheek dialogues with a generous sprinkle of heartwarming bihari-accented Hindi.

Hat man das erste Drittel hinter sich (das eher gewöhnungsbedürftig auf Grund des 'Humors' ist), oder besser man fängt erst überhaupt dort an zu schauen, dann hat der Film gute Bollywood Manier und ist für Shahrukk Khan Fans auf alle fälle sehr sehenswert, schon allein wegen einer sehr sinnlichen Glasscheiben-Tanzzsene! WOW – einmalig! Die Tanz- uns Musikszenen des letzten Drittels sind sowieso hervorragend und lassen keine Bollywoodwünsche offen..:)! Ganz toll ist auch die Szene, wo Shahrukh als Vortänzer mit einer Gruppe in das Haus der Braut kommt und sie dann entführt!
Die Geschichte ist an Romeo und Julia angelehnt und wird nach anfänglichen Qualen recht gut, spannend und auch humorvoll (tatsächlich humorvoll) und sehr romantisch. Ich habe ihn dann doch noch sehr genossen und mich auch von der Geschichte einfangen lassen. Ich kann somit die DVD für Shahrukh Khan-Fans und Bollywood-Unentwegte absolut empfehlen, es lohnt sich auf alle Fälle! Es ist ein Gusto-Häppchen, dass den vollen Geschmack erst nach dem ersten Drittel entfaltet.
