Synopsis:

RANG DE BASANTI is a film about awakening. About standing up for ones beliefs. Where the spirit of rebellion transcends time and age.A young London based filmmaker chances upon the diaries of her grandfather, who served in the british police force in India during the freedom struggle. Excited abouth these memories she makes plans to shoot a film on Indian revolutionaries mentioned in the diaries. She comes down to Delhi and casts a group of five friends to play the pivotal rules of these revolutionaries.

However products of modern India, the five youngsters refuse to be part of the project, as they don't identify with these chracters from the past. Now surprising, considering that they are part of a generation of Indians that believes in consumerism. To them issues like partriotism and giving ones life for ones beliefs is the stuff stuffy text book are made of. They would rather party then be patriots.

\"Rang de Basanti\" ist einer der besten Filme, die ich je gesehen habe. Er hat mich zu 100% überzeugt. Rakesh O. Mehra zeigt uns, dass er ein wundervoller Regisseur ist. Man merkt sofort, dass die Chemie zwischen den Schauspielern vom ersten Moment an stimmt! Sehr gut stellt Soha Ali Khan ihre Figur dar und ein weiterer Pluspunkt geht an Alice Patten! Natürlich glänzt Aamir Khan wieder in seiner Rolle als DJ! Hier zeigt er uns wieder, was für ein breites Sprektum an Schauspielkunst er beherscht!
\"Rang de Basanti\" ist zweifellos ein Klassiker unter den Hindi-Filmen!

Das ist der Beste Indische Film den ich je gesehen habe. Er reist mit.
Die Darsteller könnten nicht besser ihre Rollen ausfüllen.
Die Einstellung der Jugend ist - denk ich - oft nicht anders als in Deutschland.
Möglichst viel Spaß haben, keine Verantwortung übernehmen.
Aber alles ändert sich langsam im Film bis zum dramatischen Ende.
Kein Film mit Happy End. Es ist ein Film zum Nachdenken.
Für mich kommt er noch vor Swades, Dil Se und all die anderen.
REM hat seine Sache hier gut gemacht.
