Synopsis  
Yashovardhan and Nandini Raichand (Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan), a wealthy couple are steeped in family values and traditions. Their two sons, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) and Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) share a warm relationship with each other and their parents. Yet, beneath the surface things are not what they seem. Rahul is an adopted child, who feels irrevocably tied to feelings of gratitude towards the couple who took in an orphan like him. When he falls in love with Anjali (Kajol) a middle-class girl living with her sister Pooja (Kareena Kapoor) and dad (Alok Nath), Yashovardhan Raichand strongly disapproves. But for Nandini, love is the guiding force. Conflicts mar the serene atmosphere and a grief-stricken Rahul decides to leave home…..

Director Karan Johar has pulled off a casting coup, putting together the biggest names in Hindi cinema today. The film has been insured for a whopping Rs. 22 crores, again breaking a record. Another unique feature - it has 281 different trailers being shown all over the country and abroad. The melodious soundtrack from Jatin – Lalit includes ‘You Are My Soniya’ and the poignant title song ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ and one more number sung by Amitabh. Racy choreography from Farah Khan for Hrithik promises to recreate the magic of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.

Der beste Film aller Zeiten. Wenn ich an den kleinen Sohn von Shahruhk Khan denke kriege ich sofort wie eine Gänshaut.

Ein Film der Extraklasse! Alles ist überdimensioniert und das im positiven Sinn! Gigantische Bauwerke, gigantische Farbwirbel in den Tanz-und Musiknummern, gigantische Songs, gigantische Gefühle, gigantische Schauspieler, gigantische Kulissen!!! Man wird schier umgeworfen von der Pracht und Herrlichkeit dieses Films - in jeder Weise - und dies ist auch positiv gemeint!
Die Dramatik einer arrangierten Hochzeit, die Allgewalt der Väter, die Traditionen als solches, die Liebe innerhalb der Familie werden hier fulminant in Szene gesetzt. Die Kernaussage des Filmes ist so simpel, wie wahr: Liebe deine Eltern oder Du sollst Vater und Mutter ehren"! Der ganze Film handelt von der Liebe der Kinder zu ihren Eltern und der Eltern zu ihren Kindern! Ein wunderschönes Thema, das in unseren Breitengraden leider kaum mehr Aufmerksamkeit erregt!
Ich bin schlichtweg begeistert und habe mich nun schon öfters an diesem Meisterwerk indischer Filmkunst erfreut. Ich habe jede Minute ausgekostet und die rhythmischen und tollen Lieder vom ganzen Herzen genossen - lauter Ohrwürmer kann ich nur sagen!
Kajol und Shahrukh sind auch hier DAS Traumliebespaar und bringen es wieder fertig, einem mit wunderschönen sinnlichen Bildern zu verzaubern, ohne das nur ein Kuss gezeigt wird. Alles ist nur angedeutet, nur skizziert, ein Blick in die Träume und Phantasien der beiden Liebenden! Es ist einfach wunderschön!
