What is a Saree?
5 ½ metre long unstitched, draped female garment. or Saree: Indian women’s main garment of wear, composed of at least five yards of cotton, silk, or material of a synthetic nature wrapped round and tapering down the lower part of the body, one end of which is slung round the shoulders over a tightly-fitting bodice of cotton or silk, often displaying an empty midrift space. Saree: a dress worn primarily by Hindu women; consists of several yards of light material that is draped around the body. A Saree (also spelled saree) is a garment worn in special folds by a large number of women in India.Saree or Saree is anglicized Tamil word Selai referd as early as in the oldest Tamil epic Cilappatikaram . It is usually 5-6 yard of unstiched cloth worn over a blouse that comes a little below the breastbone, and a petticoat as a lower garment beneath the drape.
